The original reason for me to launch this blog is that I wanted to track a series of portfolios of hedge funds for one of my school’s projects. This is the first summer I am staying in here in the US, I am very excited about it. Although I have followed the financial market and world affairs for years, this is the first oppurtunity for me to have a break to seriously study the US financial markets. My main task for the summer is to finish the school's project at first. However, as I read more and more, I realized that just tracking the hedge portfolio is not going to help me a lot in understanding the US financial market and I also noticed many other websites have done it already, such as the renowned Marketfolly. Besides, many hedge fund managers do not perceive the market properly, so following them blindly would only distract me from seeking the truth of the market.
So I decided that I am going to write something about anything that is happening in the financial world. It can be a hedge fund portfolio tracking, stock market analysis, event comment and even a book review. Since I am busy with my school work, I am only able to post one or two articles each week. But I hope I can receive some feedbacks from my readers and learn something from them because I am new to this market (which is why I named the Blog Outsider). You can correct my English too since it is not my first language.

Welcome to Outsider, a blog dedicated to track and provide viewpoints regarding the US financial market. In this blog, the author, Chao, will comment on the US stock market and current world affairs on a weekly basis. Being an international college student here in the US, Chao is still learning about the US markets everyday, which is radically different from the market in his home country.
